William Travers, an accomplished criminal lawyer living happily with his wife in rural Suffolk, is recovering from a traumatic series of events that have shaken his faith in the legal system when he is drawn into a case involving an old friend.

While the case against Martin becomes stronger, the implications of the conspiracy grow as well. Detective Wenborn's investigation heats up, but so does his personal conflict. Jane's student runs afoul of Wenborn's detective work, with shocking consequences.
Episode 5
Travers makes the last connections in probing the conspiracy, affecting Martin's murder case and changing his own life forever. Wenborn resorts to blackmail and frame-ups to close his investigation, targeting Travers and bringing the troubled barrister face-to-face with his own shadowy past.
