Star Bestsellers
Star Bestsellers is an Indian television series that was originally telecast on Star Plus in 1999–2000. Each episode in the series is a separate story written and directed by young and upcoming writer-directors and it carried the special intensity for a different feeling but all about proper human condition and indicating that each person has something great at heart. Writers and directors who worked in creating the episodes of the series include Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Imtiaz Ali, Sriram Raghavan and Hansal Mehta.

Neeti (The Frog and the Scorpion)
Directed by Hansal Mehta, this is a story of two best friends, Neeti and Mahesh. Mahesh proposes to Neeti but she turns him down. Later, a stranger seeks refuge from the police in Neeti's house. The stranger, later, comes to her rescue when Mahesh misbehaves with Neeti.
Shuruat
Sameera, a divorcee, lives alone. Her mother-in-law Urmila worries about her while Urmila's husband lives a blissful life. Urmila loves Sameera and visits her to take care of her. She learns about Sameera's abortion while visiting the doctor for her check-up and bumps into Sameera at the clinic.
Prayas
A struggling theatre artist gets a break in a play and impresses the director with his performance. He even bags a role in the director's next play. The only barrier in his path to success is his drinking habit. Will the talented actor be able to overcome this weakness?

Vikrut
Krishna sets out to avenge the death of Meena, who was murdered. He discovers that the vehicles used for the murders were stolen from the police. The police tries to arrest Krishna for killing innocents. Krishna dies while trying to save another victim.
Fursat Mein aka Dayanand Phir Bola
Amar Khan meets his friend in a park, but is shooed away by some miscreants. He uses various visiting cards to fight injustice. The story takes a leap and Amar Khan meets an artist and narrates his past. He continues to save laymen from being bullied and harassed.
Telephone
Uma hitches a ride on her way to Amul's place, when her car breaks down. She ends up in an asylum and gets molested by her inmates. Amul comes looking for Uma but the doctor convinces him that she is unstable. Amul leaves Uma at the asylum, promising her to visit every week.

In this story directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mahesh and Sarala shift to a rented house owned by Debashis and Shobha. Shobha informs Sarala about her second marriage. Mahesh is shattered when Shobha informs that Sarala has met a stranger. He doubts his wife of infidelity.
Anand
