What happens when you return from a family holiday to France and open the boot to find a Syrian refugee where your luggage was supposed to be? That’s the situation facing new couple Peter and Katy when they get back to Dorking from their first family holiday with Katy’s young son John, who has spent the journey from Calais winding up his would-be stepdad. Their unexpected passenger is a bloke called Sami who hopes to claim asylum in Britain.

Episode 1
Peter and his new partner Katy and her son John arrive back from their first holiday together. As they unpack the car, they are in for a super-sized surprise.
Episode 2
Now Sami is an official asylum seeker, Katy is determined that he should stay for as long as he needs to - despite what Peter thinks.
Episode 3
Sami is now settling in and has made contact with his family who are in Berlin. John gets into a fight at his new school, and Peter has his worst prejudices about Sami confirmed.
Episode 4
With Sami now anxiously waiting for his substantive interview at the Home Office, and the rest of the family in meltdown, it's a very difficult time for everyone.
Episode 5
Things are still tense between Sami and his wife Yasmine, who has now claimed asylum in Germany. And some smug Germans arrive from Berlin to try and persuade Sami to join Yasmine.
Episode 6
With the day of his substantive interview fast approaching, Sami is desperate to make a good impression. But is Britain actually where his heart lies?
